Readings in historiography after the "transnational turn"—the project of writing and teaching history across national boundaries. Emphasis on methods, especially research strategies and interpretive frameworks. Topics of readings and discussions include empire, colonialism, and postcolonialism; nations and nationalisms; borders and borderlands; globalization; cultural transfer and hybriditiy; and transnational approaches to histories of race, gender, and sexuality.
